SCROOGE
A miserable, lonely man who is trapped in his constant desire to gather more money. His name has become the most famous insult for anyone failing to get into the Christmas spirit. Scrooge is shown how his behaviour effects his own happiness and the lives of the people around him when he is visited by 4 ghosts. PURPOSE
Scrooge is the protagonist of the novella and his journey teaches us that the way to happiness both in this life and beyond is to live a selfless life that is considerate of those less fortunate.
The reader is taken through his various sins to be shown the more unpleasant side of human behaviour and asked to reflect on their own lives. They are then shown the transformation of Scrooge and through him given the message that it is never too late to redeem yourself.
