FRED
Fred is Scrooge's nephew. Full of the Christmas spirit and generous to match, Fred is Scooge's foil at the start of the novella. He is handsome and unlike Scrooge, whenever he is described it talks about the warmth that he brings. Fred has his only family and invited Scrooge over for Christmas dinner every year. An invitation that he has never accepted.
Fred is the son of Fan, Scrooge's sister. We never hear about Fan again. Perhaps bringing back the memories of his beloved sister is the reason for Scrooge's anger towards Fred. We see Fred on Christmas day with his family and friends celebrating. Despite Scrooge's attitude, Fred show no anger towards his uncle but instead says how he simply pities him as most of all he hurts himself.
